Our Story

The Presbyterian Church of Jackson Hole began in the early 1990s.  The goal was to begin a unique Christian ministry, grounded in the Reformed Tradition, to those who lived in Jackson Hole.

In 1994 the local committee along with the Presbytery of Wyoming called the Rev. Paul E. Hayden to be the Organizing Pastor of this congregation.  The Vision to be a congregation that:

Gathers to Love God,

Grows to know and follow Jesus, and

Goes into its community and world to make a difference

quickly took hold in the fledgling congregation.  In its first 2 years the congregation grew from a committee of 5 to a body of 125+ committed members.  The focus of the congregation in its early years was to be open to any and every person within the Jackson community.  The ministry focus was to reach children and youth and through them their parents.  Worship Services were held in public schools where we adapted to our surroundings.

In 1999 PCJH began construction on its own facility.  With excitement in the air the congregation moved into and dedicated its new Ministry and Mission Center in August of 2000.   PCJH had become a permanent member of the Jackson Hole community.

Since that time the Ministry and Mission of PCJH has continued to grow in focus and outreach.  The facility now measures 30,000+ sq ft.  We have educational and outreach activities that involve nearly 1000 people from this congregation, other congregations, and no congregations.  We have established mission work locally (we have fed nearly 30,000 people at our regular Wednesday night community dinners over the past 3 years), nationally through youth mission trips and disaster assistance trips, and internationally in Nicaragua through our newly established relationship with Agros International’s Journey with a Village ministry.

PCJH is an active and spiritually vibrant congregation with 360 members who are living the 3 G’s of our vision.  We are always glad when new folks (visitors to our community or new community members) join with us in worship and service.  If we can share more of who we are don’t hesitate to call or e-mail us through our “Get Connected” area on this website.

May the Lord be with you.
